Two component, room temperature curing epoxy system with good toughness; meets NASA low outgassing specifications
Key Features
- Convenient handling
- Long open time
- Good bond strength in shear and especially peel
- Exceptional adhesion to polycarbonates and acrylics
Product Description
Master Bond EP40 is a two part, room temperature curing epoxy for bonding, sealing, coating and encapsulating. This low to moderate viscosity system has a forgiving 1 to 1 mix ratio by weight or volume. It is formulated to cure readily at ambient temperatures or more rapidly at elevated temperatures. The optimum curing schedule is overnight at room temperature followed by 2-3 hours at 120°F to 150°F. EP40 is 100% reactive and contains no solvents or diluents.
EP40 is a superb adhesive and bonds well to a variety of substrates including metals, ceramics, composites and plastics. Its forte is adhesion to engineered plastics such as polycarbonates and acrylics. EP40 is inherently tough and can withstand intense thermal cycling and shock.
EP40 is a reliable electrical insulator. This combined with its low viscosity and low exotherm enables it to be utilized as a potting and encapsulating system. It withstands many common chemicals including water, oils, fuels, cleaning agents and some acids and bases. The color of Part A is clear and Part B is amber. The service temperature range is -100°F to +250°F. A non drip version called EP40ND is also available. EP40 can be used in applications where one might encounter polycarbonates and acrylics. These include aerospace, electronic, medical, optical and automotive industries.
