Master Bond Supreme 45HTQ-4 is a toughened, two component, silicon carbide filled epoxy for demanding bonding, sealing, coating and casting. This specialty product is most notably used for the assembly of heavy industrial equipment , especially for downhole oil and gas processing applications.
The system’s working life is a very long 12 to 24 hours at room temperature. This thixotropic paste has a 100 to 30 mix ratio by weight and requires oven curing at 250 to 350°F. Upon curing, it has low shrinkage and is highly dimensionally stable.
It offers the impressive combination of exceptional chemical, temperature and abrasion resistance. Here, you can see a cured sample withstanding repeated abrasion with sandpaper but this material can do much more. It has long term resistance to erosion, grinding, wear, and aggressive particle attack. This epoxy also features a superior strength profile and retains its strength, even when exposed to temperatures up to +450°F. [Compressive strength: 24,000-26,000 psi, tensile strength: 8,000-9,000 psi, tensile lap shear strength: 1,400-1,600 psi at 75°F]
